MARIPOSA FIRE SAFE COUNCIL
Your Small Town Non-Profit Serving the County at Large
Mission
Our mission at Mariposa Fire Safe Council is to protect the people of Mariposa County and their property from the effects of catastrophic wildfire through education, cooperation, innovation and action.

Who We Are
Wildfire is a natural part of the ecology of the Sierra Nevada foothills and is part of living in Mariposa. Our experienced staff and a Board of Directors are passionate about reducing the threat of wildfire to Mariposa County's communities. Help us help you become fire safe!

The Mariposa Fire Safe Council (MFSC) was established in January 1998 as a grassroots community effort to raise awareness among Mariposa County residents about the dangers of wildfire in the wildland–urban interface. From the beginning, our mission has been to help people understand how to create and maintain defensible space around their homes. MFSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, non-governmental, and non-regulatory community partnership made up of Mariposa County residents, land and property owners, businesses, organizations, and agencies working together to reduce vulnerability to wildfire. Office hours are tentative and may vary depending on project needs and fieldwork schedules. The office is closed on Fridays, weekends, and most major national holidays. Telephone messages and emails will be returned as soon as possible.
